Ok, we have had so many 'bad' words come through from non-regular posters that my company has blocked my access to reading any further posts. I will check back occasionally from my home computer and keep in touch. I sure am enjoying our rain, in spite of not wanting to ride in it! Everybody take care & ride safe.

Leona, thanks for asking - haven't heard anymore from her, other than they think it has something to do with her heart configuration and nothing more. i kinda thought that's what it wuz (ok, that's what i was praying it was), but they are still talking perhaps another heart surgery in her future (she had one when she was three).we'll see

dayum, Char! sorry to hear of getting ripped off - that sux. hear things come in threes, so you should be at your quota. so did you take any pics at the blues rally?

and pretty bold Diji, running up and planting a liplock - you know you're going to hell, right? LOL

1WS, ouch! i'm sure doc means well, but why on earth can't they let ya rehabilitate at your own pace?

... back to b-days - 21st huh? mine is the 22nd, and pretty close to midnight- just a cusp baby. though, some of the old books i have read have libra ending on the 21st and scorpio starting on the 22nd iso the 23rd.

well here's to hoping for some mild weather and no rain next weekend, as i need 2 wheel therapy...

Ck and I had a good time at the rally (I think). I was walking across the field where the vendors were, and the most GORGEOUS man I have ever seen turns around. He is dressed as Jesus for Halloween, and had lights strung under the robe, lighting him up like a dang Christmas tree. I walk up to him and tell him, "Forgive me father for I have sinned." Then I planted the most awesome kiss on the dude that I have ever had in my LIFE. Made my toes curl. I was born again! (Oh, and the weather was perfect too.)

Robert's Doctor isn't happy with how far Robert can bend his knee. He gave him two weeks to get bending it better or the doctor is going to bend it for him. Other than that he said the knee is healing nicely.

Been a long time gang. So much to tell so little time. Been without internet for a month. I just got my new laptop from lil bro and it's soooo cool! But anyway.....Went to Fayetteville to the Bikes Blues and BBQ rally and got robbed while there. Yep, took us for 700 bucks. Then less than a week after we got back, our house in town was broke into. So since we weren't living there I took out the computer in case the the thieves came back. They only took some change and jewelry. The cops think it was kids. But no leads yet. And a couple of weeks before all that, I wrecked the truck. But it's fixed now. Anyway, got to catch up on all the news here. Ckat counting the days! Can't wait to see you! Everyone else hope you are all doing great, and having better luck than me! Ride safe gang, Charlotte

Well, my patience paid off. I got my bike back up and running just in time to take advantage of a late Indian Summer riding. Hubby and I took a trip in October to celebrate my birthday and our anniversary (the anniv. is in Dec, but who wants to add traveling to the Holiday stuff?). We went out to the Oregon Coast and rode down HWY 101 into California. What a trip!!! We were gone 5 days, and were on the bikes for about 8 hours a day! We found some great twisties in the Redwoods, so great that we turned around and did them again. We logged 1250 miles total. The weather was perfect. A little crisp, but for the most part dry. The only moisture we had was one morning the fog lasted for about 20 miles. We just put on our raingear/skigear and were quite toasty.

1WS I'm so glad to hear that Robert is doing so well, and congrats on the new member of the family, what a cutie!

Well Robert came home after being in the hospital 3 days. They wanted to send him to rehab, but he wanted to come home because he missed me. So they let him even though he couldn't walk very far or up any stairs. Plus the VA didn't want to pay for his medicine he needs and they didn't send him home with anything. They wouldn't approve in house physical therapy, they wanted him to go the the hospital three times a week. Which I knew he can't do because of the stairs. Anyway he is getting around better now and they now have approved of the in house therapy. It only took a week of his doctors getting involved in it. The therapy will get him moving better than he is now. Next week he gets the staples taken out. He's not ready for that.
I've got pics of Butkus posted on the other site. Ckat I'll send you pics.

Well were in Indianapolis for the weekend before Robert has his surgery, we have to be at the hospital at 7 am Monday. Before he could have the surgery he had to see a cardiologist, Wednesday. He had to do a stress test Thursday. The doctor called Friday to say everything was good with the test so the surgery is on. Robert is very nervous. He will be in the hospital for 2 to 3 days. Then he will either get to come home or get transfered to the VA for therapy. One thing Robert may be done smoking by the time he leaves the hospital, because there is no smoking anywhere in or on the property of the hospital. I'll post to let you all know how Roberts doing.
Robert is upset that we had to put his bike in storage. He won't be riding again till around May.

Hey all, Indian summer returned earlier in the week with highs in the low 90s and warm Southerly breezes. Monday cruised Highway into work wearling long sleeves and vest only and quite comfy. Babar running smooth and strong like the bull elephant it is :D

Mother-in-law must be related to W.M.s ex as Rick said she was thinking of suing for "Adverse Possession aka Squatters Rights" for part of the property. She paid $5,000.00 for her trailer 15 years ago and got mad when I refused to give her daughter the riding lawn mower, Rick's tools, the big tractor and something for her trailer. She bought a double wide which she has moved onto her daughter's property and now expects us to pay her for the delight of her being next door for 15 years. In which she: Put her needs in front of our family;Burned down neighbors property and refused to pay for it until they threatened to sue and then I negotiated the Insurance Company down $10,000.00 while doing the legal research to proove to Rick and his mom that deliberately setting fire to trash is not an "Act of God"; Never paid one penny for the lot; Her water was paid for on our electricity; Took big vacations with her son (including several to Las Vegas); bring her dogs over to poop in front of my front porch, took her to the doctor, etc. I did the research and she doesn't have a leg to stand on and if she comes around me she might not have any legs or arms or head. Rick said "Please don't do anything to my mother" I haven't done anything to her while all she has done since he left is stir stuff up. I sent him an email stating she was in the middle of the marriage for years. She needs to stay out of the divorce!!!!!!

On the bright side CHARLOTTE-take me away lol. Looking forward to next month girlly.

Leona, sorry about your bike troubles - at least you chose to wait until after the warmest part of the year was over to check out your bolts! Wish mine could have waited . . . I still mourn the loss of 5 weeks of prime riding weather, particularly with the cold coming in. Oh well, I did get some great riding in this year. With luck, my employer will give me the vacation I have requested next year so I can do even more!

HL, thanks for posting the Sisters thing - I read that some years back and truly enjoyed it, but could never find it again.

Ah, cold weather again - I'm experimenting with some new long johns and glove liners. I don't want to give in and get heating clothing; it just seems to wussy. Time enough for that when arthritis attacks! Stay warm, everybody & ride safe.

Hey Amy, how ya doing? I have been thinking of you a lot lately and wondering how what's up wit you.

Well, I have not been riding for about two weeks, and I am really going through PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome, as HammerLady calls it) I hate that my bike is parked.
The slight oil leak turned out to be a lot more troublesome than we first thought. Who would have thought that a stripped bolt that was within an oil pathway would involve dismantling the engine? At least the engine didn't have to come off the frame, but it seems that everything else has been removed.
Diji, I sure know a lot more about the Savage (and engines in general) than I did a few weeks ago.
I am so lucky to have the most excellent expert teacher on how this all works together, THANK YOU Wrench!

I will just have to live through you all for the riding you all are doing.

CKat-- how's things?

1WS--my thoughts are with you and Robert as he gets ready for surgery.

I think that a meet and greet next summer would be awsome. I'm not into Sturgis, but just a get together would be fun.

Well, its late and I gotta go to bed.

As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life. After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't call when they say they will.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT.........
Girlfriends are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, your girlfriends will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out. Girlfriends, daughters, daughter-in-laws, sisters, sisters-in-laws,Mothers, Auntie's, nieces, cousins, and extended family, bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without them, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other. Every day, we need each other still.

Sisters. . . A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.
"Don't forget your sisters," she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. "They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. And remember that "sisters" also means your girlfriends, your daughters, and other women relatives too. You'll need other women. Women always do." 'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grown-up. Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!
But she listened to her mother. She kept in contact with her sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her mom really knew what she was talking about.

He had heard that some groups won't ride unless you wear leather or full body armor or......Nah, not us we just ride.

Everyone have a great weekend now ya hear! Get the ridin' in while it's still nice, CK

Wolfie> As an example of people recovering after knee replacement, Lu and I take ballroom dance classes (go ahead lets hear the jokes) anyway our dance teacher has had knee replacements and gets around better than any of her students. The only thing she dislikes is the doctor forbids her from wearing high heels anymore.

Sturgis would be great, if I can enough time off. I'll be due a vacation by then.
Kind of getting restless for a road trip again. Sure would like to make it to Fayetteville next weekend. We'll see.....
Wolfie, Hope all goes well with your boss, a special prayer heading her way....Also for Robert. I imagine he is getting a little nervous. I've heard some who have had knees replaced and had no problems and made a world of difference, hopefully it's just what he needs....
C-kat....Smooch Smooch huh? You go girl!!
Rainy day here. Kind of nice. We have not had a good rain in a while. It's one of those slow rains. Perfect sleeping weather.....
Hopefully I'll get my laptop soon and get my phone line moved so I can pop in more often....Ride safe gang, Charlotte

All in for Sturgis anyone :D

Diji and I had a fun trip. The ride up and back was great around 300 miles total. However, we woke up in a lake. Especially me I had a little well way too much to drink and didn't zip up my tent window and when I woke up I was completely soaked. The Vets were really great and Mother took our tents and stuff that were caked in inches of mud and guys that had trailered their bikes in for the dirt drags trailered ours out through 4 to 6 inches of water and mud for about a mile. Over all though it was a great trip and very good people. Then Wednesday I got my very first real kiss. Wowie!!!! And that's all it was no copie feelies or other shenanigans. Gives me hope that I am still somewhat attractive.

WS-My thoughts and prayers are with you and Robert.

Ride long & prosper, CK

Damn, nothing stays the same around here for long, 'eh? Between Ckat's divorce, Amy's roadtrips in my backyard (damnit!) Hammer's surgury (and Roberts), and being stuck in a Mexican Jail...kidding, you all keep right on "keeping on", don't you? Wish I had known you was laid up HL, I woulda come given you some TLC. I'm sure Wrench did a mighty fine job, though. Does soaking in the hot tub help? Or is that not allowed? * I've been up to Jasper and Banff, and some other parts both on the map and off the last week or so. I was pretty wrapped up in getting ready to be gone for awhile, and then just being gone, that I'm waaay far behind. Hopefully things are settling down for everyone, and there isn't quite as much drama in your lives! Just good riding time with great roads and great end of the summer weather. I lucked out and got "perfect" weather on my trip. I couldn't have asked for any better! It's back to the regular grind now, work, work, work to pay for the trip. Amy, next time you are down this way, I'll ride with you in the Gorge somewhere, and knock yer socks off with some incredible views, roads, and fresh huckleberry icecream! I'm close... HL has my email, and phone #. Lots of love, Ladies.......I'm not sure about Mr.Viagra tho'! XO

QF, Wolfie> That hurricane was sort of a wimp really. I had to work that day so I rode my bike in to work and all day long all I heard was "Don't tell me you rode that thing today?" Trick is since I have to be at work at 0 dark thirty I usually beat the bad weather. Don't know why but the worse weather waits till dawn to hit. No damage to our house and the only problem was alot of leaves in the swimming pool.

Well Robert's surgery date has changed. He is now having surgery on October 9th and he is getting his right knee done first instead of his left. He'll have the other one done three months after the first one. The doctor said he should be in the hospital for 4 days.
If you guys could say a prayer for my boss, she found out she has breast cancer for the second time. She has two different types, so they are doing cemo and radiation treatments. One of the tumors was blocking her esophogus, so she couldn't eat anything. One of her lungs also collapsed, the doctors are worried about her getting pneumonia in that lung. While she is going thru all the treatments she can't take care of her pets, so others have taken them. Which makes it hard on her, because those pets are her family she's not married. She has 30 birds, 6 cats, 7 dogs, and 2 rabbits.
Amy -- Your ride to hurricane ridge was better than the ride we did there. It was wet and cold when we went.
QF -- Glad you didn't get hit by the storm.

While on a ride up to Hurricane Ridge today, I passed underneath a solitary man waving a large American flag from an overpass. I biker, I am certain - even though the patches on his black jacket were too far away to see if they were biker or military related. I wanted to salute, but it has been nearly 30 years since I have been in uniform, so I settled for a short blip of the horn. I wondered how long he was able to stand there - how tired his arms got. Once up on the ridge, I overlooked the town of Port Angeles and saw all the military fortifications that still stand as remembrance of another time in our history. It was an excellent ride; beautiful blue skies, dry roads, great twisties and even some GDT's that moved over to let me go by! Gotta love days like this. May we all have many of them. Take care everybody!

Ckat--Sending sunshine your way. Hope you and Diji have a great time.
QF--Hope you guys didn't have any flooding.
Amy--Glad to hear you had a great trip. Robert and I plan to see that Stonehenge when we do the 48 in two years.
HL--I'm glad your ok.
Well everybody here's whats going on with us. Sept 21, we go to Indianapolis to pick up Robert's breathing machine. He has sleep apnea. Now I will have to get use to him not snoring and the noise of the machine. Nov 2, Robert is having his left knee replaced. He is nervous about it alot now that the time is getting closer than the two years we were told.

Yawn.....Oops didn't mean too doze off, but I've been put on the overnight shift and my poor old body just aint adapting like it should. It's been a week now, and I'm still not getting the sleep I need. But It's going to get better. I hope! I kind of like the night shift as strange as that sounds! But it's not as intense right now, but that's all subject to change!
C-kat, Nov 11, I'll mark my calender. I'm guessing you guys will be passing through, on to bigger and better things?? Maybe a Big Easy trip??? You deserve it!
Yawn again....Guess I'll be a good wifey and take JimBo a breakfast sandwich to work for his break before I hit the bed. I kind of miss him now that I'm working nights. I don't see him but for a couple of hours a day. But the plus side is hopefully soon, I'll be working 4 on and three off. With my three off days being Thur, Fri, and Sat. I still think it's too good to be true!.....Ride safe gang, Charlotte

It's been raining the last several weekends here :P Temp. has dropped 20 degrees and it is now 85 highs with 60s for lows and I'm freezing. Sunny today so rode in. Diji and I are planning a ride/camp/rally thing this weekend so y'all send sunny thoughts this way please.

The divorce was filed Wednesday. I went by and told him since he works for the newspaper I didn't want his co-workers coming up to him and Saying hey Rici lookee here your wife is divorcing you. Things are more obvious now what happened. As a friend of mine who saw him said and I'm quoting the conversation word for word. Sandy-Rick sure looks skinny.....Me-Yep....Sandy-Rick been doing things he shouldn't be doing?....Me-Yep.

Char-Dij and I are talking about coming the weekend of November 11th.

Okay, I'm going to be silly - but you did say you were crossing the bay / bridge tunnel? And it quit raining while you were in the middle - hmmm - that wouldn't have been the tunnel portion of that bridge, would it?

sheesh, you go away for a few days, and dayum, tons of stuff happens! oh gawd, i wish i had 'heat'on my ride, maybe not your 100-degree-possible-heat-stroke heat, but some heat! the ride to upper ny, nh, and ri meant long periods of cold and a few days in the rain. (rain sucks on a bike! and yes, i'm a wuss.)

almost made it back all the way home b4 it started raining again - about an hour b4 getting into va and crossing the bay / bridge tunnel, it was pouring buckets and the wind gusts were up. (so much so, i was worried they weren't going to let us cross) ~~ windshields do d0- wad-diddly when it's raining sideways. (and do they make windshields w/ wipers? LOL)

weird thing wuz, on both sides of the bridge it was raining its arse off and the winds were howlin (it's interesting how well you can still ride sideways :P), but in the center of the bridge it was hardly raining at all and fairly calm.

will post a few pics - unfortunately, hubby doesn't 'do' the pic thing, so i don't have many. once he gets going, it's don't stop until we get there.... all told put 2000 miles on Smaug.

and i am extremely jealous of all the meet-and-greet that went on! and hope everyone is mending well!

Amy-- I'm glad you made it home safely. I really enjoyed riding with you, even if it was for such a short distance.

It has been busy around here with my oldest home for the weekend. I forget how crazy life gets when I have both my kids home. I love it though, not a moment to myself, just like when they were tots.
